Wet start to South Florida’s week; Island could get close to 1” of rain

Key Biscayne residents will want to grab that rain gear on the way out the door Monday, as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami is forecasting widespread rain, with some areas in South Florida receiving 1” to 3″ of rain.

There is a light risk for excessive rainfall capable of producing flooding, especially across the east coast where a few locations may receive 3-5″.

The official forecast for Key Biscayne calls for showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11a.m., with some of the storms producing heavy rainfall. There is a 90% chance of rain, and the Island can expect to receive between a half and three quarters of an inch possible, according to the NWS
