Pawleys Island man arrested after firing gun, fleeing from deputies after dispute

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCSC) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man after he allegedly shot a gun and led deputies on a vehicle pursuit Sunday night.

Eric M. Smith, 44, is charged with aggravated breach of peace, failure to stop for blue light and siren, driving under suspension and open container.

Sheriff spokesman Jason Lesley said Smith allegedly fired a gun into the air and the ground during a dispute with an unnamed person.

Deputies attempted to stop his vehicle as he was leaving the scene, but he sped away from them…
