Portsmouth house fire caused by accidental electrical issue

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — An accidental electrical issue caused a house fire Sunday afternoon in Portsmouth.

Units from Portsmouth Fire Rescue and Emergency Services and Chesapeake Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire in the 300 block of Saunders Drive at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews reported smoke coming from a detached garage in the backyard of the structure and declared a working fire. They contained the fire to the area of origin with minimal extension to other parts of the structure…
