University of Tennessee, Knoxville raises $428 million in donations

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The University of Tennessee, Knoxville received $428 million in donations over the course of fiscal year 2024-25, UTK announced on Monday.

In 2023-24, the university passed $300 million in donations for the first time. Now, it has reached an incredible $428 million from over 70,000 donors — more than double what it got in 2020-21. The university wrote that donations supported more than 12,000 student scholarships totaling over $30 million in 2024-25.

“This milestone reflects the incredible support of our alumni and friends, their deep love for UT and their belief in the importance of the work we do,” said Chancellor Donde Plowman. “Each contribution helps us make a difference in the lives of Tennesseans through education, research, economic development and community service.”

In May, UTK lost 25 grants totaling $7,085,105 in federal funding.
