Jim Caldwell’s Forecast | Steam and storms will roll on

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The pattern of active weather that brought rounds of showers and storms over the weekend is showing no signs of slowing down. If anything, the storm track remains firmly locked in place, meaning more of the same is on the way. This unsettled setup will carry us through the workweek and into the weekend, with frequent storm chances and an ongoing risk for localized flash flooding from quick bursts of heavy rain.

Today’s temperatures are stuck in the steamy 80s, with high humidity making it feel even warmer. Expect a blend of sunshine and clouds throughout the day, with scattered showers and storms developing at times. While much of the daylight hours may remain dry in spots, the coverage and intensity of storms will increase by this evening and continue through Tuesday. Some areas may deal with repeated rounds of rain, which only adds to the flash flood threat.

By midweek, especially Wednesday, the combination of high heat and humidity could push the heat index close to 100° in some locations. However, that intense heat may be tempered if a thunderstorm rolls through your area, bringing temporary relief from the oppressive conditions…
