OMAHA, Neb. — First Star Recycling, Nebraska’s largest recycling service provider, is rolling out an educational campaign to help residents properly recycle take-out cups and containers. This initiative follows the recent expansion of their recycling program to include hot and cold paper cups, supported by a grant from the Foodservice Packaging Institute (FPI).
“This expansion gives nearly 500,000 households across Nebraska and surrounding communities the opportunity to recycle their paper beverage cups and other take-out items, keeping them out of landfills and turning them into new products,” said Patrick Leahy, CEO of First Star Recycling. “We’re excited to deliver this message to our community to build better recycling habits.”
Residents will see messaging on how to recycle clean and empty paper cups and other foodservice items like paper bags, pizza boxes, and plastic containers. The campaign emphasizes proper recycling habits, advising residents to empty all food and liquid, place plastic lids, straws and foam cups in a Hefty ReNew bag or trash, and place recyclables loose in recycling carts…
