Deadly Midnight Collision on Route 309: Community Demands Safety Upgrades After Fatal Crash

A sudden collision just after midnight sent shockwaves through this tight-knit community. A 36-year-old Lansford woman was killed when her car struck a tractor-trailer and another vehicle at the busy intersection of Route 309 and Mountain Road, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office confirmed.

According to the coroner’s report, the woman—identified as Jane Doe—was driving northbound on Route 309 when her sedan veered into the path of a southbound tractor‐trailer around 1:04 a.m. Coroner Daniel A. Buglio pronounced her dead at the scene, noting in a statement that he withheld her name pending completion of an autopsy to allow her family private time to grieve.
