BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — On Monday, July 14, Angelo Emayi Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty to multiple drug trafficking charges stemming from an incident on January 25, according to the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office.
Johnson pleaded guilty to the following charges:
- Trafficking opium/heroin (Class E), two counts
- Possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
Johnson received a mandatory minimum sentence of 90 months and a maximum of 120 months in prison; that’s at least 7.5 years and at most 10 years. He also has to pay a $750,000 fine, the DA’s office said.
On January 25, the Asheville Police Department stopped a car which Johnson was a front passenger. During the stop, officers saw a white powdery substance on the passenger seat and in a McDonald’s cup in the center console, the DA’s office said…
