COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) — The number of Ohioans trying to claim their unclaimed funds is skyrocketing.
The Ohio Department of Commerce told FOX 8 News that from June 30 to July 6 they saw 153,561 claims initiated. That’s an 83% increase.

The surge comes just weeks after Gov. Mike DeWine signed a state budget that allocates $1.7 billion in unclaimed funds to go toward the new Cleveland Browns stadium and upgrades at other sporting facilities.
