Cody Rhymer claims his second Winnebago County Amateur Golf Championship

ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Make it two Winnebago County Amateur Golf Championships for Rockford’s Cody Rhymer. He got his first one in 2021. He got his second one Sunday at Macktown.Rhymer shot a 69 on the par-71 course to go with his 67 on Saturday for a 136 total. That left him six strokes under par with a five-stroke victory. Rhymer was the only golfer in the Championship Division to break par both days.Last year’s champion Drew Grygiel, a former Hononegah golfer, finished tied for second place at one-under par. He tied Ken Lee. The Winnebago County Amateur always seems to bring out the best in Lee. The Rockton native has won it four times, and he’s always in the hunt.A tip of the cap to Senior Division Champion John Schwarzbach.
