ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The LaFrance Administration intends to award a contract to the Chicago-based firm 21CP Solutions to provide an assessment of the Anchorage Police Department’s policies, training, and tactics relating to use of force, as well as make recommendations for changes. That’s according to the Office of Mayor Suzanne LaFrance.
The Anchorage Assembly will consider the contract during its meeting Tuesday night.
The plan for an assessment – should it come to fruition – fulfills a promise made by both LaFrance and Anchorage Police Department Chief Sean Case to review what led up to a record number of officer-involved shootings that culminated in the shooting death of 16-year-old Easter Leafa in August of 2024…
