Community remembers beloved veterinarian who died after water rescue on North Carolina island

CREEDMOOR, N.C. (WNCN) — The city of Creedmoor is mourning a beloved veterinarian and community leader.

Dr. Lori Scappino died after being pulled from the surf at Oak Island over the weekend. Officials say she suffered cardiac arrest.
