LG&E says 2 new power plants needed for predicted ‘significant’ jump in energy demand

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – LG&E says it needs two new power plants to keep up with economic development.

Monday night, the public has a chance to weigh in on these multi-billion-dollar plans.

These two new power-generating plants would be fueled by natural gas. They are part of a $3.7 billion plan that LG&E has to meet demand for electricity into the next decade and beyond. One would be built in Mercer County, the other here in Louisville, to accommodate a proposed data center…
