Melissa man receives 30 year sentence for family violence crimes

GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KXII) – A Melissa man was sentenced to 30 years in prison last week for continuous family violence and evading arrest with a vehicle after a Grayson County jury found him guilty back in May.

James Edward Archer, 45, was arrested by Whitewright police officers responding to a report of an assault on October 12, 2023. The victim told officers she had been assaulted by Archer twice the previous 24 hours, despite having an active protective order against him. When Whitewright officers attempted to pull Archer over, he fled the traffic stop and drove back to the victim’s house, and was then taken into custody.
