LaFollette awarded $2.77M grant to build sports complex

LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (WATE) — The City of LaFollette has been awarded a $2.77 million grant towards the construction of a sports complex, state officials announced.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Outdoor Recreation on Monday announced over $22 million in grants in support of recreational projects across the state. LaFollette received the grant through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund, which provides state funding to match local government investments for projects on publicly owned land.

According to a grant application submitted by the city, the grant will help fund the construction of a sports complex near the intersection of Jacksboro Pike and Independence Lane.

The project will include three ball fields for baseball or softball, a building for restrooms and concessions, and ADA-compliant walkways as well as the construction of an access road and parking.
