July 15, 2025 – In a powerful show of unity and compassion, law enforcement officers from four counties came together to escort 6-year-old Marlaysia Braxton home from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital after she was injured in a deadly shooting that took the life of her mother last week in Tunica County.
The shooting occurred on Friday, July 11, 2025, leaving the community heartbroken. Marlaysia’s mother, 30-year-old Nykeria Jude, was killed in the domestic violence-related incident. Marlaysia and a 24-year-old man were both airlifted from the scene for treatment.
