MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Several neighbors in one North Memphis community say overgrown vacant lots have become a breeding ground for insects.
This has been a persistent problem for those living along Shasta Avenue just off North Trezevant Street in Hyde Park.
A homeowner who lives in the area, Carrie Fleming, has been reaching out to city and county leaders to resolve the issue for years now.

“I complain about this year stuff every year. I have to start doing it. I’ve been calling about this that over there next to my neighbor’s house. I’ve been calling about that ever since May,” Fleming said. “I pay my taxes and I shouldn’t have to live like this here. I mean somebody could get killed or hurt out there or do something to be out.”…
