In a report published on their official website, the NOPD outlined the latest crime figures, including notable arrests and trends in gun-related offenses. The department took a significant step last Saturday when they arrested 19-year-old white male, Thomas Riggio, in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash. According to the NOPD News release, the incident occurred at the intersection of Alvar Street and Saint Claude Avenue and Riggio has been charged with hit-and-run driving resulting in death. This arrest was marked as a notable accomplishment amidst this week’s enforcement efforts.
When it comes to firearms offenses, the NOPD’s statistics show a notable decrease. Year to date, NOPD has made 158 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm.
