Woman arrested on multiple charges after fleeing traffic stop, biting officer

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A woman is facing multiple charges after North Charleston Police say she fled a traffic stop and bit an officer during her arrest on Sunday morning.

Elizabeth Shelley, 34, is charged with no driver’s license first offense, failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and resisting while assaulting an officer, an incident report says.

At 3:32 a.m., officers saw a white SUV driving on Ashley Phosphate Road with no headlights on. They watched the vehicle stay stopped at a traffic light even while the light turned green and then traveled at a slow speed through an intersection, making a turn onto Northside Drive.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but Shelley refused to stop, and a pursuit followed her into Goose Creek. She then stopped at a gas station and tried to flee on foot, but was caught…
