ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — Indiana University Health hit a major milestone Wednesday in its construction of a new hospital in southwest Allen County.
Last summer, IU Health announced its plans to build the $421 million hospital near Fort Wayne, at 10101 Ernst Road in Roanoke.

Wednesday marks another step closer to finishing the project with a “topping out” ceremony, which refers to the completion of the building’s vertical structure.
Plans for the hospital include:
- 140 beds to accommodate a growing patient population
- 17 emergency department exam rooms to provide immediate and critical care
- 6 operating rooms equipped with the latest surgical technologies
- 3 catheterization labs for advanced cardiac procedures
- 3-4 endoscopy rooms for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
