SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Shortly before Chuck Wright returned to work, he received a letter stating that he would no longer be paid during his leave of absence.
A letter from May 15, 2025, was written to the former Spartanburg County sheriff, stating that elected officials or constitutional officers are not provided accrual leave, per South Carolina law.
Wright’s leave of absence began on April 1, according to the letter.
