Historic Lows in Illegal Crossings and Significant Increases in Drug Seizures Mark a Turning Point in Border Security
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today finalized operational statistics for June 2025, touting record-breaking performance across its key missions and declaring it the “most secure border in history.”
The agency highlighted unprecedented lows in illegal crossings, significant drug interdictions, and robust tariff enforcement.
According to the report, June 2025 saw a dramatic reduction in illegal border activity:
- Total nationwide encounters: 25,228, marking the lowest monthly total in CBP history.
- U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions nationwide: 8,024, a new historic low.
- Southwest border apprehensions: 6,072, representing a 15% drop from the previous March record.
- Lowest single-day apprehension total: 136 on June 28, the lowest in agency history.
- Zero parole releases: For the second consecutive month, compared to 27,766 released in June 2024.
