LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Afternoon temperatures will gradually rise through the weekend, with triple-digit highs returning to the South Plains. A little reminder that it is Summer. Mid-summer.
At the same time, rain chances will be very low. A few locations, mainly over the northwestern viewing area, may receive occasional storms and showers. Most locations, however, are likely to go without.
At least for the foreseeable future.
The humidity is anticipated to slightly decrease, but will remain higher than usual through the period. This will make it more difficult for your body to naturally cool itself. Here again is my Summer refrain, continue to practice heat safety and watch for signs of heat illness.
I expect high temperatures slightly above mid-July averages today through Friday, with increasing heat this weekend. It will be our hottest weather of the month, so far. Highs around 100 degrees are likely Sunday into early next week…
