City of Lubbock Vector Control says citizens can lessen the mosquito population

LUBBOCK, Texas— Safe to say that the city of Lubbock’s Vector Control has been busy all summer with the pesky mosquito population. And standing water and weeds do not make life easier. Steven Boston, the City’s Vector Control Coordinator, told EverythingLubbock.com that they are taking more steps to prevent the growth and spread of illness.

Boston said they are out spraying every day, often in the early mornings and late nights. “West Nile virus in the mosquito population in Lubbock County in 2025 will be here all the way until it freezes. We’re working at it in trying to get across areas so that we’re connecting the dots between neighborhoods, so that we do a better job of trying to suppress that adult population down.”
