Arkansas schools ban critical race theory as court lifts injunction on LEARNS Act

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Eighth District Court of Appeals has released an opinion allowing Arkansas schools to ban critical race theory in the classroom.

The opinion lifted a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit that kept the ban at bay after it was signed into law in the LEARNS Act in 2023. Section 16 of the law prohibits indoctrination of students with certain ideologies, namely, critical race theory, an increasingly popular aspect of African American studies curricula.
