GREENBELT, Md. (DC News Now) — Three men, alleged members of the well-known gang La Mara Salvatrucha, also referred to as MS-13, are being charged with a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), involving murder and drug trafficking.
The District of Maryland’s Attorney’s Office (USAO) said 24-year-old Maxwell Areil Quijano-Casco, 19-year-old Daniel Isaias Villanueva-Bautista, both from El Salvador, and 21-year-old Josue Mauricio Lainez, from Hyattsville, Md., are accused of murdering a homeless man in connection with their gang affiliation.
Authorities said the murder was committed to further their status in MS-13.
