(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The City of Manitou Springs said its emergency operation has concluded following a Flash Flood Warning and evacuation of city facilities on Wednesday.
According to the City, multiple facilities were evacuated as a precaution due to rising water levels in Fountain Creek:
- City Hall staff were either sent home or temporarily relocated to the Public Services Building.
- The Manitou Springs Pool & Fitness Center was fully evacuated.
- The Parking and Mobility Office at 202 Manitou Avenue was evacuated and closed.
- The Pikes Peak RV Park was evacuated, affecting an estimated 55 RV sites (pending confirmation). Guests were relocated to Manitou Springs High School.
The Flash Flood Warning, which was issued at 2:19 p.m. MDT, prompted the City to initiate its emergency response at approximately 2:26 p.m. Peak Alerts and public notifications were sent out between 2:25 p.m. and 2:49 p.m., advising residents and visitors to seek higher ground and avoid flood-prone areas.
Responders canvassed the City for emergencies, utility issues, and cleared debris from roadways and drainage systems. With the immediate threat now passed, the City said it has entered its recovery phase. Weather conditions and creek levels continue to be monitored to support safe reentry for displaced individuals, particularly those from the RV Park.
