HOOVER, Ala. (WBMA) — During these summer months, parents are being reminded to stay vigilant in parks, playgrounds, and neighborhoods. Concerns about suspicious individuals or vehicles have prompted local authorities to offer guidance on how to report such activities effectively.
Calvin Kennedy, a parent, emphasized the importance of keeping a close watch on his child, especially in busy areas. “She’s special needs so I have to keep an extra eye on her and if it’s busy I will follow her around the park, making sure I keep her in eyesight at all times,” he said.
Krista Grider, another parent, shared her family’s strategy for staying alert. “We try to keep her in the proximity of where we’re sitting at, at all times,” she said. Grider’s family even uses a code word such as, “butter nuggets,” to signal when they need to regroup and stay safe…
