I-485 back open after multi-vehicle crash causes hours-long shutdown near Ballantyne

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Interstate 485 inner has reopened after an early morning crash, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Charlotte Fire Department.

The crash involving several vehicles happened Thursday just before 6 a.m. on I-485 inner near the Johnston Road exit. One person was taken from the crash to Atrium Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic).

All three inbound lanes were closed for several hours, but the road reopened around 9 a.m. Authorities have not said what led up to the crash…
