The 16-year-old was found dead after Red Springs police responded at about 6 p.m. to a shooting in the 200 block of Warren Street, interim Police Chief Justin Hewett said. Details about what happened are limited, but the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting with the investigation.
“As a parent, my heart is heavy for the family and the community affected by this senseless act of violence,” Hewett said in an email statement to News13. “The pain they are enduring is unimaginable, and our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time. I urge the citizens of Red Springs to come together in solidarity and assist law enforcement in any way possible.”…
