Davidson County Inmate Charged with Sending Threatening Letters to Judges

July 16, 2025 – Detectives from the Security Threat Section of the Specialized Investigations Division this afternoon swore out criminal warrants against Davidson County Jail inmate Phaitoon Sean Viryasiri, 50, charging him with sending threatening letters to four Nashville judges.

Viryasiri, who has been incarcerated since last October on probation violations related to felony assault and burglary convictions, is charged with threatening Criminal Court Judge Khadija Babb as a form of retaliation for decisions made when he was a defendant before her. That charge is a Class E felony.

Viryasari is also charged with making harassing threats, a Class A misdemeanor, in 17 letters sent between June 20 and June 30 to four Davidson County Judges, Babb, Criminal Court Judge Angelita Blackshear Dalton, Criminal Court Judge Cynthia Chappell, and General Sessions Court Judge Ana Escobar.
