Rochester woman sentenced in ‘swatting incident’ that included location in Darien

A false claim of a murder-suicide at a Countyline Road address in Darien set off a major emergency response in Genesee County in August 2023 and triggered a multi-agency response that has resulted in a federal sentence this week for a Rochester woman.

Dawnn Marie Walters, 53, of Rochester, has been sentenced in U.S. District Court to one year of probation, including six months of home detention, after her conviction on charges of conspiracy to gain unauthorized access to computers.
