Des Moines group wants voters to say ‘yes’ to $265M school district bond

The Des Moines Public Schools community members can now weigh on whether the school board should move forward with placing a $265 million, 20-year general obligation bond on the November ballot.

At the heart of Yes for Des Moines Schools’ petition is the district’s 5-year, multi-million-dollar Reimagining Education, Reinvigorating Schools initiative.

The plan aims to boost enrollment and improve student outcomes, make needed upgrades to buildings and technology, and expand programs, including all-day, 4-year-old preschool and hands-on career and technical training.
