French Quarter homeless sweeps to resume as city steps up enforcement

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Homeless encampment sweeps are set to resume in the French Quarter and Marigny neighborhoods as the City of New Orleans looks to address a growing, persistent problem.

“You’ll have them almost all day long,” Chef Samantha Castagnetti told Fox 8. “Whatever they have in their hand, they’ll throw it to you. So, you know, it’s not really comfortable.”

Castagnetti took ownership of The Little Italian Barrel about 18 months ago. She says since then, she’s had to call police numerous times for nefarious activity on the sidewalk outside her shop…
