Teen, man shot near elementary school in Southeast DC, police say

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. police are investigating a double shooting near an elementary school in Southeast that sent two people to the hospital overnight.

Around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) were called to the 3000 block of Stanton Road SE for reports of a shooting. Once on the scene, police found a teenage boy and a man who had been shot at the intersection of Alabama Avenue SE and Stanton Road SE.

According to the police report obtained by DC News Now, the victims were walking on Alabama Avenue and were in front of the Turner Elementary School when a car sped by and began shooting at them.

MPD said they were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
