SLCPD Hazardous Device unit responds after suspicious item found near SLC Int’l Airport

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 15, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — The Hazardous Devices Unit of the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to the scene Tuesday afternoon after a report of a suspicious item found in the area of the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Investigators were dispatched at about 12:14 p.m. to the scene, near 72 N. 2400 West, SLCPD Officer Yaier Javaid told reporters. Responding officers assessed the circumstances and requested the Hazardous Devices Unit.

Javaid said at the time of the news conference that the suspicious object was outdoors, as far as he knew, but he did not know what it looked like. He said officers were assessing the device. Javaid said multiple agencies were on scene, but that he could not list their names…
