ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A New Baltimore mother is looking for increased motorcycle safety awareness after she lost her son in a motorcycle crash in April on Western Avenue. According to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been an increase in motorcycle crashes, especially one type in particular.

For Annabel Mieses, spending time with her 36-year-old son Silas, was always something she cherished. On the night of April 14, Annabel said she was waiting for him to come home.
“I was actually here waiting for him and his friend was here with me, and I was expecting him,” said Annabel. “He said, ‘Mom I’ll be home at approximately around between eight and nine o’clock.’”
However, Silas never made it back home that night. Police said an SUV making a left-hand turn collided with Silas’s motorcycle on Western Avenue near Johnston Road. Silas was ejected from his motorcycle and transported to Albany Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead…
