On alert for storms and flooding tonight, heat wave next week

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – We remain on alert for scattered storms with heavy rain through this evening, but we also have new First Alert Weather Days for a heat wave next week.

Scattered showers and storms will continue to move from west to east across the Tri-State this evening and into the first part of the night. That rain will become lighter and more isolated after midnight. The most likely threat with these storms is flash flooding as they may be capable of producing heavy rainfall. Frequent lightning and isolated damaging wind gusts will also be possible. Temperatures will bottom out in the low to mid 70s overnight.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90° and heat index values as high as 102°. Scattered showers and storms will remain possible on and off throughout the day. Some of these may produce heavy rain that could lead to localized flooding issues, but severe storms are not expected…
