TOLEDO, Ohio — The Lucas County Clerk of Courts recently released a new list of people and heirs owed unclaimed funds following court-ordered property sales – and if your name is on the list, you might have money waiting.
These funds are known as “excess proceeds” – the leftover money from sheriff’s sales or foreclosure auctions that took place in Lucas County. After a property is sold to satisfy a debt, any remaining balance is held by the clerk of courts for the rightful recipients, which are often the former property owners or their heirs.
