Cedar Rapids receives $25 million grant for flood protection

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The City of Cedar Rapids received a $25 million grant to enhance flood protection.

The federal grant is funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and will contribute to the city’s Cedar River Flood Control System.

“This latest federal funding award is proof of our continued success in securing every possible dollar to strengthen protection for our community,” said City Manager Jeff Pomeranz. “It highlights Cedar Rapids as a national model of innovation and resilience, taking action to protect homes, businesses, and neighborhoods.”…
