DES MOINES, Iowa — Three people were seriously injured in a crash on the city’s southwest side Thursday afternoon.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, the crash shut down all lanes of traffic on SW 9th Street between Randolph and Frederick streets for over an hour. Evidence at the crash scene collected so far indicates that a Chevy pickup driven by a 21-year-old man was traveling northbound and collided with a Honda CRV driven by a 68-year-old woman that was crossing SW 9th Street from Payton Avenue, police said. The two drivers, along with a 17-year-old passenger in the pickup, remain hospitalized.
One lane of both directions of travel on SW 9th Street are open to traffic, however lane reductions will remain in place throughout the evening.
An investigation into the crash is underway. No additional information has been released…
