GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Wisconsin State Patrol troopers were in Green Bay on Thursday on day four of a week-long initiative to combat distracted driving, especially near commercial motor vehicles.
The ‘Trooper in a Truck’ initiative is a partnership between the State Patrol and the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA) to allow troopers to ride with truck drivers for a better vantage point and spot poor driving behaviors.

The troopers are inside the cabin with truckers on highways to spot risky driving, which varies from speeding, distractions, following too closely and seatbelt violations. If a trooper notices any violations, they radio to nearby patrol cars for proper actions.
“We’re grateful for the partnerships that support Trooper in a Truck and strengthen our goal of zero preventable deaths on Wisconsin’s roads,” Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Tim Carnahan said via a release. “Safe roads rely on everyone to do their part and drive responsibly.”
