LUBBOCK, Texas — The catastrophic floods in central Texas devastated camps along the Guadalupe River. One of the hardest hit was an all-girl Christian camp, Camp Mystic. 27 campers and counselors were killed by the deadly floods that swept parts of the camp away.
The camp had hosted generations of girls for the last 100 years. One of them was Lubbock native Sarah Beth Schmid.
“Harrison Hall, where we would eat all of our meals, that is an image that is being shown a lot,” Schmid said. “It’s like the back of it is just completely gone, and it’s just heartbreaking.”…
