Storm prep underway across metro as pump failures raise flooding concerns

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Residents across the metro are stocking up on sandbags as the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans brings in extra staff to prepare for potential heavy rain.

Canals across the city have been pumped down to near bone-dry levels in preparation for the tropical weather.

The Sewerage & Water Board says Turbine 4 is now activated to help run the system of 93 pumps, seven of which are currently out of service: five in the East, one in Gentilly, and one in Algiers…
