WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KPTV) — Coffee Creek Correctional Facility (CCCF) is preparing women in custody to start a new career once they’re released. Through a program called U-PACT, participants are trained for trade jobs in the construction industry.
“I was afraid when I got out, I wouldn’t have a job,” said Crystal Strickland, a U-PACT graduate.
Finding a steady job that can support them financially after prison is a concern many inmates have on their minds. At CCCF, inmates have the opportunity to enroll in U-PACT. It’s a 12-week program that trains participants for trade jobs like ironwork, cement masonry, and bricklaying. Once participants graduate and get released from prison, they’re able to join a union, get to work, and start their new careers…
