Ohio Flood Watch: Heavy Rain Threatens Cincinnati and Dayton After 2 p.m. Today

Wilmington, Ohio – Drivers across southern Ohio should prepare for flooding and reduced visibility after 2 p.m. Thursday as a round of heavy rain targets the region under a Flood Watch.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the watch remains in effect through midnight and covers cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, Chillicothe, Portsmouth, and Wilmington. Forecasters say isolated thunderstorms could produce over an inch of rain, with higher totals possible where storms cluster.

The Ohio Department of Transportation warns that water-covered roads could develop quickly, especially in low-lying or poor-drainage areas. U.S. Route 52, I-71 south of Wilmington, and portions of I-275 near Cincinnati are especially vulnerable. Outdoor events, commutes, and local travel could be disrupted by brief but intense downpours.
