Gainesville city commissioners approve plan for 14-story apartment complex

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A plan to build a 14-story, 750-bedroom apartment complex just steps from the University of Florida campus is headed back to the city commission Thursday afternoon.

The site is zoned for a maximum of 40 apartments but if commissioners approve the second reading, the developer could build up to 240 units and 750 bedrooms

The project is being proposed by Portman Residential, with consulting work by CHW, a firm also contracted with the city on other projects…
