KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two months ago, we brought you the story of Sam Burnett, a 77-year-old drag racing fanatic whose final wish was to see one more race at the Knoxville track he loved most.
On Sunday, Sam died at Parkwest Hospital.
“Sam loved the Lord, and he knew he had a home in Heaven waiting on him. Sam will be missed by family and many friends. He used to be called Big Sam when he was younger, and I am sure many will remember him as such,” his family said in his obituary…
