Kalamazoo man charged in Speedway crash injuring 7 had THC in system

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man charged in a speedway gas station crash that injured seven people in March has been bond over to circuit court.

According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Eric David Johnson, 49, veered off South Westnedge and hit numerous cars, motorcycles and people at the gas station.

Johnson was arraigned July 3, and is charged with the following:

  • Two counts of reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function
  • Two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury

Each felony is punishable by up to a maximum of five years in prison, according to Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said.
