Heavy downpours could cause flooding across Florida, officials have warned, urging residents to prepare ahead.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the weather system moving across the Florida Panhandle was showing signs of becoming a tropical depression on Thursday while moving towards the northern Gulf Coast. The federal agency said there is a 40% chance that this will happen as the system moves west over the Gulf toward south-eastern Louisiana.
The severity of the impact will depend on how far the system travels offshore, where it could become a tropical depression, officials said.
